Things To Do in Mt. Pleasant, PA
Located about 45 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Mount Pleasant is a Westmoreland County, PA borough. It should not be confused with Mount Pleasant Township, an entirely separate municipality. The area is predominantly rural and adjoins the borough to the north. In the past, the borough was well-known for making hard, porous fuels such as coke, flour, lumber, glass, iron, foundry products, and so on.
The Braddock expedition pioneered the area and built a road through the area in 1755, which opened the area to settlement. An inn was started in 1893, licensed to Michael Smith, serving traffic on what would one day become Route 31. The first iron-chain suspension bridge in the United States was built in 1801, known as Jacob’s Creek Bridge.
The borough’s three oldest buildings date back to 1812, a period that saw significant growth before and after the War of 1812. The Shupe House, Hitchman House, and the Rupert Building are all relics of this era, preserved and maintained to this day by locals.
The area is well-known for its wineries and brewing, including Greendance The Winery at Sandhill, which features an extensive giftshop in addition to a cozy cafe. Helltown Brewing is another place to visit, featuring a wide range of lagers and beers to purchase, live band performances being the norm rather than the exception.
No matter what you need, MHC Roofing has you covered. We feature a wide range of roofing tiles and exterior options, and we are able to cover your needs no matter how specific. Give us a call today for an estimate!
